This page explains the typical steps of care for patients receiving radiosurgery at Capital Radiosurgery Centers. Your care team will guide you at every stage.

Before Your Visit

Most patients arrive with a referral and insurance approval already in place. After we receive your information, a care coordinator will contact you to:

Your First Visit

Your first visit is a consultation. Treatment usually does not happen the same day.

At this visit:

  • Your medical history and imaging are reviewed

  • You meet with your radiation oncology team

  • Your treatment options are explained

  • You can ask questions and discuss next steps

Treatment Planning

If radiosurgery is recommended, your team will create a personalized treatment plan using advanced imaging and planning software. This process allows precise targeting of the tumor while limiting exposure to surrounding tissue.

Treatment Day

CyberKnife® treatment is:

  • Non-invasive

  • Pain-free

  • Outpatient

  • No anesthesia required

During treatment:

  • You lie comfortably on a treatment table

  • The system moves around you without touching you

  • You can breathe normally

  • Sessions typically last 30–90 minutes

Most patients return home the same day.

After Treatment

Recovery is usually brief. Many patients return to normal activities within a day.

You may have:

  • Mild fatigue

  • Follow-up imaging scheduled

  • Continued communication with your referring provider
